Plan a Road Trip and Visit the Top East Coast Poker Rooms!

Take a road trip and tour the top poker rooms and casinos along the East Coast! Here’s a revised 10-day poker-themed vacation itinerary starting from Connecticut and ending in Maryland.

Day 1 – 2: Foxwoods Resort Casino, Connecticut

Begin your journey at Foxwoods Resort Casino, with one of the biggest poker rooms on the globe. Aside from the poker room, Foxwoods offers golfing at Lake of Isles and shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall. Nearby Mystic, Connecticut, offers the Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium for sightseeing. Check out David Burke Prime for a fine dining steakhouse experience or head to Alta Strada for some great Italian food.

Day 3 – 4: Mohegan Sun, Connecticut

Next, head to Mohegan Sun, another large resort with a well-known poker scene. It’s only a 15 minute drive (about 9 miles away). While not playing poker, visit the Mohegan Sun Golf Club or take in a show at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The nearby city of New London offers the U.S. Coast Guard Museum and the historic Fort Trumbull. For meals, try Tom’s Urban for eclectic and delicious offerings, or BALLO Italian Restaurant for some hearty Italian cuisine.

Day 5 – 6: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City, New Jersey

Travel down to Atlantic City and play in the Borgata’s esteemed poker room. It’ll take you about 4 hours to drive to the Borgata, but it’ll be worth it!

Explore the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk and the historic Absecon Lighthouse. The Steel Pier Amusement Park is also a popular tourist attraction.

For dining, Borgata has numerous options including Bobby Flay Steak for steak enthusiasts and Izakaya for modern Japanese cuisine.

Day 7: Parx Casino, Bensalem, Pennsylvania

Visit Parx Casino in Pennsylvania. It’s about an hour and a half away (77 miles). Their poker room is one of the largest in the state. In the area around Parx Casino, you can visit the historic Pennsbury Manor or the beautiful Tyler State Park. Philadelphia’s rich history is also a short drive away, with attractions like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. For dining, you may want to try Parxgrill for a stylish and contemporary dining experience, or Liberty Bell Gastropub for craft beers and hearty fare.

Day 8 – 9: Live! Casino & Hotel, Hanover, Maryland

Next, make your way down to Maryland to the Live! Casino & Hotel. This is a little over a 2 hour drive away (130 miles). Their poker room is one of the largest in the state. In addition to poker, check out the Arundel Mills Mall, which is right next door. The nearby National Cryptologic Museum is also interesting. Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, with attractions like the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Center, is just a short drive away. For food, check out The Prime Rib for steak and seafood, or Luk Fu for Southeast Asian cuisine.

Day 10: MGM National Harbor, Maryland

Cap off your tour at MGM National Harbor, about 45 minutes away. Their poker room is lively and provides a great end to your poker vacation. After poker, enjoy the Capital Wheel, a large Ferris wheel with stunning views of the surrounding area. The casino is also near Washington D.C., where you can visit national landmarks like the National Mall, the Smithsonian Museums, and the U.S. Capitol.
